Driven by Precision, Powered by Passion: KJR’s Continued Partnership with Euan Currie
For the second year running, KJR is proud to sponsor Canadian ski cross athlete Euan Currie, a driven young competitor whose blend of technical focus, curiosity, and resilience perfectly reflects the spirit of KJR. As a company built on assurance, precision, and trust in complex systems, we see in Euan a living example of what it means to perform under pressure – with discipline, evidence, and heart.
At just 21, Euan has already achieved what most athletes only dream of. Having earned his professional athlete card from the Canadian government, he now represents Team Canada’s Next Gen squad – a development pathway for the country’s future Olympic ski cross racers. His sights are firmly set on moving up to the B-team and beyond, building on a standout performance at last year’s World Junior Championships.
“Last year at World Juniors I did really well for myself,” Euan reflects. “This season I want to prove I can be consistent against the best in Europe.”
A Season of Grit and Growth
Euan’s competitive season runs from December through April, with an intense schedule that will see him racing across Europe for more than 50 consecutive days.
It’s going to be an absolute grind. Race, race, race, drive, day off, and repeat.
Yet he wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, this is what he’s been working towards since his early teens.
Behind every run on the slopes lies months of calculated preparation. Over the off-season, Euan committed himself to a demanding training block that saw him shed around 15 pounds and build lean strength through a mix of power, stability, and endurance work. “In the summer I was training five days a week, sometimes after ten-hour days working outdoors,” he explains. “Now it’s all about stability – knees, joints, lower back, all the things that keep you upright when the course is throwing everything at you.”

Technology and the Modern Athlete
Technology has become an integral part of his training toolkit. Every ski run is filmed and meticulously reviewed with coaches to analyse body position, speed, and decision-making. Increasingly, drones are being used to track athletes in motion, providing new perspectives that reveal the smallest technical inefficiencies.
One of my teammates has a drone that follows us down the mountain, it’s pretty wild. We can see exactly where we’re losing time or line control.
He’s also aware of emerging AI tools entering the sport. “I’ve heard of some teams using AI to analyse body movement frame-by-frame,” he says. “I haven’t used that yet, but I definitely use ChatGPT for training ideas or recovery questions. I’m always curious. I want to know why something works.”
That curiosity is what KJR values most. In both sport and technology, progress depends on asking the right questions, experimenting safely, and trusting data over intuition alone. Whether Euan is reviewing drone footage or KJR is validating an AI system for bias and integrity, the principle is the same: evidence builds confidence.
Mindset: Compete with Purpose
Euan’s mental approach sets him apart from many young athletes. He’s candid, thoughtful, and unflinchingly self-aware. “You can only do as good as what you put in,” he says simply. “If I don’t perform the way I want, that’s on me. I just have to work harder and do better.”
Instead of drawing from motivational books, he prefers small daily reminders, often a quote from a Stoicism app that pings him with wisdom from philosophers and thinkers. “It’s nice to read something every day that grounds you,” he says.
Ski cross is unpredictable. You can’t control the weather, the snow, or the other racers. You can only control how you show up.
That mindset aligns closely with KJR’s own culture. In consulting and assurance, as in sport, control is rarely absolute, but preparation, adaptability, and composure make all the difference. We both know that true confidence comes not from perfection, but from preparation and continuous improvement.
Family, Team and Support
This year brings another unique chapter to Euan’s journey: he’ll be sharing it with his younger brother, Cameron. “He actually quit Alpine skiing a couple of years ago,” Euan explains, “but when he saw I was doing well in ski cross, I told him to give it a shot. Now he’s taken my old spot on the team and we’re living together.”
Family has always been central to his story, from his parents’ early encouragement to their continued support as he chases races across continents. Even his growing list of sponsors, including KJR, feels like an extended team.
Having people like KJR behind me means a lot. It’s more than a logo on a helmet - it’s people who actually care about what I’m doing.
Precision in Motion
Euan’s new gear this season represents another leap forward: World Cup-level suits, factory-fresh skis, and top-tier boots. “Everything’s brand new and dialled in perfectly,” he says proudly. “It makes a huge difference knowing your equipment is as prepared as you are.”
From the engineering of his skis to the data behind his performance, precision underpins every success. And that, once again, mirrors KJR’s ethos – delivering precision assurance and trusted results in complex, high-stakes environments. Whether it’s testing an AI system for reliability or carving milliseconds off a downhill line, both require meticulous attention to detail and unrelenting discipline.
Looking Ahead
Euan’s immediate goal is to make his mark on the Europa Cup circuit, where he’ll compete against the world’s best under relentless travel conditions. “I just remind myself that I could be working a nine-to-five,” he laughs. “Instead, I get to chase this dream. That keeps me grateful and hungry.”
KJR’s continued partnership with Euan isn’t just about sponsorship, it’s about shared philosophy. “We both believe in curiosity backed by evidence, courage grounded in preparation, and innovation that’s built on trust,” commented KJR Founder Dr Kelvin Ross.
Euan represents everything we value at KJR. Dedication, humility, and the pursuit of excellence, always with integrity.
As the season unfolds, we’ll be cheering Euan on from the sidelines, proud to support an athlete who, like us, knows that confidence is earned through proof, not promises.
