ACT/NSW GM, Andrew Hammond and KJR Founder, Kelvin Ross to lead AI-ML enthusiasts on first Cultural-Techno-Tour

Events

The first Cultural-Techno-Tour is an extension of the incredible Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning work the KJR team has achieved with Johnny Murrison of the Jarramali Rock Art Tours | Aboriginal Tours in Far North Queensland. Which aims to preserve Indigenous culture by capturing Aboriginal Rock Art stories on Country.

Through the utilisation of modern technologies our team is hoping to help Jarramali preserve and share this ancient artform. The team will utilise machine learning technology to capture the rock art paintings, on Country, in hopes of educating others on their significance, including the stories told through each image. The images were originally captured by a team of Archaeologists from Griffith University.

Spread out over an area of 25,000 hectares, “Quinkan Country” is home to some of the most significant Indigenous rock art galleries in the world. Johnny Murison is a proud Kuku-Yalanji man and the owner operator of Jarramali Rock Art tours, who take international and domestic visitors “on Country” to experience the culture, share stories and view the rock art. These tours provide an incredible opportunity to experience the rock-art sites which highlight a connection to land that is celebrated by the oldest culture/civilisation in the world.

The stories behind the rock-art and the Western Yalanji ancestors which captivated KJR Australia initially, is the essence of our engagement with Jarramali Rock-Art tours. We thank the Western Yalanji Indigenous Corporation for involving us with their venture, it is an incredible experience to be a part of.

Though our first Cultural-Techno-Tour is fully booked we have started a waitlist for our next tour. Reach out to Andrew Hammond for more information.
