Celebrating Our Partnership with Goondoi Aboriginal Corporation

Article

KJR is thrilled to celebrate our ongoing collaboration with the Goondoi Aboriginal Corporation, a partnership that has allowed us to work together on groundbreaking initiatives blending technology with culture. Our shared mission is to preserve and empower.

Preserving Culture and Country through Drone Mapping

Since 2022, KJR, alongside other Queensland-based companies, has worked to harness the power of drone, AI, and mapping technology in the documentation of Aboriginal rock art. This innovative partnership has opened doors to previously inaccessible land, enabling the discovery of ancient rock art dating back thousands of years.

A key aspect of this collaboration is the empowerment of local rangers, including the Goondoi Rangers, through drone certification and data collection training. This not only aids in the preservation of cultural heritage but also strengthens efforts in wildlife tracking, fire control, and land management—skills that are essential for ensuring the ongoing health and vitality of the land.

We are proud to be working alongside Goondoi Aboriginal Corporation to upskill rangers with invaluable tech skills. By integrating advanced technologies like drones and AI, we can help preserve the stories of the land for future generations while empowering local communities with the skills needed for sustainable land management.

Empowering Indigenous Students through STEM Education

Education is another pillar of our collaboration with Goondoi. Through our partnership with Radiant Life College, an institution based in Innisfail, Far North Queensland, and associated with the Goondoi Corporation, we are advancing STEM education for Indigenous youth. Radiant Life College is deeply committed to the education of Indigenous children, and KJR is proud to support this mission through our RPAS STEM engagement program.

This program offers students an opportunity to explore cutting-edge drone and AI technology in an inclusive and hands-on environment. Students engage in practical learning experiences that connect technology to Indigenous culture and land management. By fostering these skills, we aim to equip the next generation of Indigenous leaders with the tools to thrive in today’s technological world.

The RPAS STEM program is an exciting opportunity for students to gain new skills that will help them connect with both their heritage and the future. Through this partnership, we’re making advanced technologies accessible and relevant to our communities.

Our Role in the Indigenous Australian Datathon

The Indigenous Australian Datathon (IAD) is an annual event that brings together Indigenous communities and tech experts to solve challenges on Country using data science and AI.

KJR and Goondoi Aboriginal Corporation are proud to be involved in the Datathon, where we not only provide technical and cultural expertise but also contribute to the strategic direction of the event through our role on the IAD Committee.

Together, KJR and Goondoi continue to pave the way for new opportunities in education, culture, and technology, fostering a future where Indigenous communities thrive with the support of advanced technologies.
