Intel Joins the Indigenous Traineeship

With a shared goal of closing the digital skills gap and opportunities for communities and youth groups across Australia, Intel joins the Indigenous Traineeship to deliver a structured ‘AI for Youth’ program that will grow the tech skills of Indigenous high school students on the Gold Coast.

Intel joins the Indigenous Traineeship to train KJR staff who will deliver this AI for Youth program to Year 11 and 12 students in development of their skills in data science, data analytics, coding, and problem solving. Implemented successfully for youth in several countries across the globe this program will offer an experiential learning journey for students in technical and social responsible AI skills, and award ‘Intel Certification of Accomplishments’ upon completion.

Why AI for Youth?

Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators. The next generation needs the right skills and resources to understand what AI is, how it is designed, and why it is important in today’s digital world. Much of the youth don’t yet fully grasp the key role they can play in shaping AI thus, it is essential to diversify AI for the next generation of innovators in an inclusive way, irrespective of gender, ethnicity or location.

Providing them the opportunity to learn AI skills and apply them responsibly to design any solution is an important key to building long-term competitiveness.

The Traineeship

Backed by the Queensland Government, through Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and Advance Queensland the yearly traineeship which launched March 2022, offers students an opportunity to learn from data scientists, tech engineers and KJR’s consulting team on the tools and best practices for working with and analysing data. Students that are passionate about understanding more on data science will gain real-world technical experience by assisting the KJR team on a list of projects across artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
