KJR Celebrates Diversity at the 2024 TechDiversity Awards

Article Events

KJR was at the TechDiversity Awards 2024 in Melbourne to represent the Indigenous Australian Datathon. Presented by TechDiversity, the awards recognise outstanding achievements in social impact, accessibility, and inclusivity within technology workforces.

Anil Kumar, KJR VIC General Manager, reflects: “While we did not win the TechDiversity Award this year, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to those who did. We are grateful to have been among such distinguished nominees. This nomination itself is a milestone reflecting our team’s dedication and our shared commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the tech industry. I want to thank our team and partners for their ongoing support and trust as we continue to innovate and strive for excellence in all that we do.”

This event was a valuable learning opportunity to see the innovative initiatives of other organisations.

Our diversity initiatives

Staying at the forefront of the industry for 26 years, KJR has been committed to making a positive impact on society, including the Indigenous community. KJR is a founding member and tech partner of the Indigenous Australian Datathon. Since 2021, the Datathon has aimed to close the digital technology literacy gap within regional and remote Indigenous communities. The influence of the Datathon continues to expand annually, with the number of participants in 2023 reaching nine times that of 2021. KJR aims to encourage more participation from diverse Indigenous communities, equipping individuals with essential digital skills for thriving in today’s digital landscape.

We are collaborating with Substation33 and Outlook who work towards providing employment opportunities for individuals from marginalised backgrounds, those experiencing long-term unemployment, and people with disabilities across Queensland and Victoria. Through these partnerships, KJR aims to empower these individuals, fostering sustainable future employment.

Expanding our support beyond these organisations, KJR also partners with Women in Technology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). By offering comprehensive support and mentoring services, we strive to increase the entry of talented women into the technology industry in Australia.

Our CSR journey doesn’t stop here. We have engaged with many more partners to enhance diversity within the tech workforce. These initiatives led to winning the 2023 National AIIA Diversity Award. Building on these efforts, we will further develop inclusivity in our projects and policies to create a more equitable environment across all sectors we serve. We remain committed to being a catalyst for change, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in diversity and inclusion, and setting new standards for the industry to follow.
