The startup scene in Brisbane is rapidly gaining momentum with the likes of River City Labs at the helm and QUT Creative Enterprise Australia launching the first Creative Tech Startup Weekend recently. Software Quality consultancy, KJR has also been raising awareness around risk and innovation strategies between enterprise and startup, and how this relationship can enhance both parties. As the conversation with peers deepened, the company made a positive decision to open its doors and share the Brisbane office to local startup SwipeAds, who develop the online security technology, FunCaptcha, used across thousands of sites proving you’re human and not a robot.
FunCaptcha was founded in January 2013 from an idea that emerged at a River City Labs startup weekend during late 2012, Kevin Gosschalk and Matthew Ford immediately knew it had the potential of being a huge success. Since inception, Kevin and Matthew have gone from strength to strength, landing funding from angel investors and government grants with customers all over the globe.
“We’re thrilled to have Kevin and the team at FunCaptcha working out of our Brisbane office. KJR has worked with so many government departments and ASX200 companies to mitigate risks and ensure quality in their digital transformation programmes, it just seemed like a natural step for us to start actively supporting some emerging home-grown tech players who embody the very essence of disruption and transformation.” says Ashley Howden CEO of KJR.
Startups sometimes face the hardest challenges of all when scaling up. It’s imperative the business is in the right environment and has the best network of support to succeed in moving forward and an enterprise can provide this space.
“We’re grateful of the support Ashley and the KJR team has provided. As a startup we are always looking for great partners that can help us grow and achieve success globally. KJR invited us to work alongside them where we can focus on our goal of providing cutting edge software that operates at vast scale, something that KJR help their clients with everyday.” – Kevin Gosschalk, CEO and Founder of FunCaptcha
Ashley Howden says “We hope that FunCaptcha is the first of many ‘scale-ups’ that KJR is able to support through their transition from start-up to fully-fledged tech success story. To be a small part in that journey is a real pleasure for everyone in our company, especially our team in Brisbane.”
KJR is Australia’s pre-eminent software quality and risk mitigation consultancy in Australia, improving development velocity for ASX-listed companies, major Government departments and third sector institutions.
