Event Wrap: KJR Collective Co-Op 2020

Events The Collective

In the last week of February, our KJR Collective gathered across three different regions – QLD, VIC and the ACT, to engage in our annual Collective Co-Op. While we couldn’t all join together in one place as usual due to COVID, the Collective spirit shone through and we were able to make the most out of the opportunity to get together, both in person and via video, to delve into the KJR values and reflect on 2020 as well as the year ahead.

We kicked off with a business update and listened to insights from one of our consultants, Needha, about her time working with Datarwe, while a DevOps challenge set teams up to be responsible for delivering the best business outcomes using DevOps principles.

panel representing 100 years of automation experience highlighted just how knowledgeable our consultants are (after all, they have 100 years of combined experience!) and provided valuable insights for our team from our Test Automation experts.

Next came time for the Kudos Awards, with four Collective members receiving this award, which recognises excellence in exhibiting the KJR values, as voted by their colleagues. The four awards went to Mark Velasquez for the Truth Teller award, Aidan Davis for the Explorer award, Linda Morris for the Human award, and Xian Wang for the Champion award. Congratulations to all recipients and nominees!

We were also lucky enough to have the opportunity to acknowledge several milestones within the Collective, with Aaron Henderson, Cheryl Peralta, Christopher Hunter, Dinesh EllepolaMohanish Soma, Needha Aleyas, Paul Burge, Roanne Laughlin, Steven Parsons-Rodionov and Tracey Rawlinson all celebrating 5 years with KJR, while Anthony Hallett, Jason Smart and Steve Casa all reaching the 10 year milestone. We are so pleased to celebrate and acknowledge these significant milestones and appreciate the hard work and dedication of these Collective members.

As always, the annual KJR Co-Op Cup was up for grabs with teams from each region embarking on a ‘Digital Evolution Dash’ scavenger hunt to locate items that represented a part of digital history, with teams searching high and low to find items such as a Raspberry Pi and camera film. After two hours of enthusiastic searching, a team from the ACT came out on top, claiming a narrow victory over our VIC teams. Congratulations to our winning team members Rob, Kalpana, Ben, Jon, Arnel and Linda and also to our second-place team Fabrice, Reymond, Anil, Ratna and Sylvia!

Finally, we wrapped up the day by taking in an immersive presentation about technology innovations from keynote speaker Prof. Marek Kowalkiewicz, Founding Director of QUT’s Centre for Digital Technology.

Overall, all members of the Collective were able to stay engaged throughout the day, adapting to a new, virtual way of connecting with interstate colleagues and coming together as a united Collective looking to new and exciting challenges in 2021.
