KJR Collective Catch Ups: Needha Aleyas

The Collective

A couple of times a month, we like to get to know members of the KJR Collective a little better. Today we catch up with Needha Aleyas.

Years in the industry: 15 years

Started at KJR: June 2015

Based in: Brisbane

Currently working with: Needha is working on multiple projects with the Queensland Ambulance Service.

What Needha loves most about her job…

As a Senior Consultant, Needha works with different clients in both the private and public sectors, specialising in software test design and test management. She most enjoys how “every client we work with is making an impact on the community using technology”. Working alongside different clients, Needha has learned to appreciate the diversity of working in different industries, environments, technologies and cultures. “With the variety that KJR offers, I get to gain wide-ranging experience in less time and get to apply lessons learned at one place in other areas.”

How Needha got into this industry…

Starting out in India, Needha finished her Bachelor of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Cochin University of Science and Technology. She then worked as a software tester and as a project lead before moving to Australia. Having a background in engineering helped Needha attain her first role in Australia at Siemens, where she was employed as a Verification and Validation engineer. Needha first discovered KJR through our very first employee Steve Butler, who was providing consulting services for one of the projects Needha was working on. And Needha couldn’t resist the move to join the KJR Collective.

What Needha thinks about the future of tech…

“Technology has impacted every single field”, and Needha knows it’s only going to continue growing. She considers her current work with Queensland Ambulance Service to be a clear example of positive impact of technology on the community. Using new software and utilising the ever growing relevance of data, she is helping to deliver a quality solution that uses data to improve ambulance coverage and response times, allowing patients to have faster access to emergency care.

She also does other things…

With two daughters to take care of, Needha makes sure her time outside of work is devoted to her family. Many of her current hobbies and activities correlate with spending time with her kids. This means that crafting with her daughters, “perfecting decorations for birthday parties”, and growing flowers has taken up a lot of Needha’s time. Although one thing she always tries to make time for no matter what, is badminton. “I just love it, and my passion for the sport has encouraged my daughters to get more involved in the sport!”.

Needha’s final word of advice…

“You will never cease to grow if you develop a passion for learning. And it’s never too late to learn something new. I’m lucky that learning is appreciated and promoted at KJR.”
